The fourth week was very interesting because there were four newcomers: Sid, Alan, Brian and Brandon. New members brought variety to all of our competitions! Brandon was the youngest in the main tournament, but struggled on an equal footing with more experienced opponents. He even managed to get third place in the “Blitz” Tournament
Sid started the main tournament by winning two games, including one against the tournament favorite: Eric, but the constant time pressure did not allow him to build on this success. Alan has shown a good level of play and only a few blunders in the games did not allow him to show a better result. But in sports, Alan discovered the remarkable ability of the jumper by breaking Sam’s record that was set last week.
The fate of the main tournament was decided only in the final round. Gilad and Ahron who each won three games and draw each other, shared the 1st place before the last round. However, in the final round, Ahron unexpectedly offered a draw (in a better position!) to Brandon and Gilad managed to beat Eric and secured 1st place. It was not a successful tournament for Eric who has lost two games at the very start. Only in Blitz Eric was able to show the result worthy his level: he took 1st place 2 points ahead of nearest rival. Second place in the tournament unexpectedly won Don, finally distinguished himself in the Master Camp
Persistent struggle for the victory in problem solving competition took place this week. In previous weeks, Ahron was able to win with almost no competitions, but this week until the last minute Gilad fought with him on equal terms, but Ahron still managed to finish ahead of Gilad by 2 points and won first place (4th time!)!
Sport events with a large number of participants also proved more interesting. In various elements everyone showed better results, but at the end of the week Eric was a little better than others and took first place.
Summing up the week we can say that 8 students is the optimum version for the master camp!
